Memory to a friend

Why did you feel you had to go? Whishing it away won't make it so I'll miss your smile and quick wise cracks God how I wish you could take it back

I can't believe that things were so bad That you had to leave every friend you had Behind to discover what made you tick What you've done has made me sick

I wish we could have known your pain The demons you carried inside your brain They say it is a coward's way out Why you couldn't step outside and shout

At the person inside your head making you ache I guess you thought your soul was fake I only pray that God knows your pain You've left us behind to sit and refrain

Wondering if your memory will wilt Digging down inside to find our own guilt

Could we have stopped you? Would we have tried? If only we'd known Your pain inside
